Oregon State Quarter
Year of issue: 2005
Released on June 6, 2005, this is the 33rd coin released in the 50 State Quarters Program and the 3rd released in 2005. Oregon, admitted into the Union February 14, 1859, themed the coin, Crater Lake. It highlighted an image of a portion of Crater Lake, viewed from the south-southwest rim to include Wizard Island and Watchman and Hillman Peaks in the lake's rim.
The obverse (heads) design shows the familiar portrait of George Washington used on the quarter since 1932. But the inscriptions previously used on the reverse – "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "QUARTER DOLLAR", "LIBERTY", and "IN GOD WE TRUST" – all appear on the obverse in order to accommodate the state designs.
